Happy Leap Year

The apricot tree is in full bloom which means no apricots this year. We always get a week of freezing temps in mid March. The past few week have been sunny and warm.

CQ Hexie

Finished another Hexie block from Kathy Shawkl's class. The flowers is an applique technique called 'broderie perse'. It is a group of flowers cut out and appliqued down then embellished with threads.  The rooster was suppose to be the same but the thread painting took over.  The Cat is a raised technique stuffed with cotton, appliqued to fabric and embroidered. The pink "L" is silk ribbon Monogram. Finished the seam treatments this week.

All nine chickens are laying eggs so we are in overload!!  Last night we had a fruit salad with Raspberry dressing and a Crescent Egg Roll. Delicious..

Baby Quilt is almost ready for the binding. Found some cute ducks, butterflies and bunny for quilting around.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Strawberry jam for my honey made from fresh strawberries not frozen!

This is the border for the Viking Ship. It is worked on Fiddlers Cloth 18 count.

The baby quilt is ready for machine quilting

This is how I do my binding. The start is folded into a triangle and then folded over and ready to sew. The end is tucked inside and fold to the back for hand stitching. Quick, easy and professional.

Flannel sheep for the backing. It has been washed in hot water and tossed in the dryer.

Have a wonderful Valentine's Day!!

Hooked Flower Rug

I began learning how to rug hook with this rug in the mid 70's . The middle four flowers were hooked along with some grey. It got packed away and last year I found it and proceeded to hook away. The grey was gone so I found this nice green plaid and I like better than an all grey background. Below is how I finished the edging with a whip stitch.  A 40 year rug in the making!! (:
