Class pictures and McDonalds

In this class we were to make a Wisteria Vine using some material around the home. The green below was a bag with avocados. I cut it into strips and wove it in with the heavy brown yarn and trellis. The flowers are silk ribbon French knots.

The wooly, French knot sheep decided to leave the flock for the grass is greener on the other side!

Mix techniques....wheel barrow is tatted filled with silk ribbon flowers, long and short butterfly and bunny.

Our McDonalds will be destroyed in Jan for a new building. Sad as this is one of a few that were first built.  The paintings were done on the walls by a local artist. He painted may murals through out the town.  More pictures next week.  Tucumcari, New Mexico is on RT 66.

Mr. Rooster turned into an embroidery motif. The Threads just seemed to keep on flowing!! So I appliqued a group of flowers for the Broderie Perse project in Kath Shawkl's class and used simple outlining on the outside and inside with beads.

Slowly getting the Christmas decorations up. We were the first to put the outside lights up and now the rest of the neighborhood has lights. The church, Santa house and the train station are needle work on plastic canvas with a music box.  The small china Santa in front was given to me at a bank for completing my Christmas Fund when I was 12. They had a special deal for children so they had money for Christmas. The Christmas fence has been in the family for a very long time. My grandmother gave it to Mother and believe it came from Germany. I would say it is over 100 years.

Thank you everyone for visiting me and leaving a nice comments. Wishing you all a blessed week.

Log Cabin Quilt and CQ Projects

Log Cabin quilt top is finished, needs to be quilted. The center was a wall hanging since 2004 and September 2015 I worked an hour every day and completed in November  14. These are the wildlife we encounter living in Alaska, Wyoming and New Mexico. It is a log cabin design and all hand appliqued. The houses and center are cotton materials and the border animals are wool.

These 2 trees are from Kathy Shawkl's class ICQC 103. The above is an embroidered tree using the split stitch and adding  French knot leaves using the "Cloud" method.
Below is a twisted tree using textured yarns. It looks like the dead tree where we walk.

Kathy Shawkl's class ICQC 104 using silkies to embroider. Her hair is bouillon knots.

Sunday walk with the dogs at Ute Lake. We have never seen the water this high in 15 years. Thank You El Nino!

Quilt Show On Line

Whims And Fancies Trunk Full Of Quilts 2015, http://whimsandfancies.com
This is an awesome quilt show with lots of beautiful quilts.  Here are a few of my quilts and wall hangings.

Crazy quilt was started in 2006 and finished 2014. These are long term projects and won Best of Show at the County Fair.  I am in the process  of working on another one.

Crazy Quilt Wall hanging Made in 2012 and won first place in an online international crazy quilt show.

Nativity Wall Hanging. The black was hand cut and appliqued onto the multi colored background.

Butterfly quilt was a wedding gift for my niece in 2015.  The blocks were boms from a local quilt shop. I designed the butterflies, flowers and vine separating the center blocks from the outer blocks. This was hand quilted and the blocks were machine quilted.

Valentine Wall Hanging. This one has tatted edging around hearts and embroidered hearts.

A Crazy Quilt Wall Hanging made with hexagons in 2009.

Mom's Chicken Quilt made in 2012. I think my sister kept this one when Mother went to heaven. It is all hand applique.

As one can see I love to Crazy Quilt and hand applique.  These are just a few of my quilts and usually work about an hour a day. I have many other projects so one is not bored!! (:   Hope you enjoyed my show as I have enjoyed all of yours!  Thanks for hosting Whims And Fancies!!!

Wool applique, Lady in the Garden and Rose Sampler

Scaredy Cat is a pattern from Country marketplace Magazine by JoAnn Mullally. The cat, moon and star are wool appliqued on a cotton fabric and sewn on a sweatshirt.

Although I did this a few years a go it is everything I did in  Kathy Shawkl class of paintings, dyes and inks. Great class.

Finished a rose motif on the Sampler. It takes a long time because of all the shading.

Tatted Maple Leaf Doily attached to a small white doily. There are 8 maple leaves attached and the ninth one in the center. It was tatted and attached all at the same time working with Lizbeth 40. My daughter has her own business testing water and this old brass water meter from Cortland, NY fits perfect for a Birthday Gift!   The Maple Leaf pattern is by Tammy Rodgers.

Cortland Water Board in New York

I have been painting laces and ribbons this week. Kathy Shawkl has lots of free classes and this one is Painting with acid dyes on laces and ribbons. Lots of great information and learning a lot about dyes. I have used lots of different dyes but one can always learn more.  Need to find time for my Crazy Quilt and add some of these beautiful ribbons and motifs.

Beaver on Log Cabin and small doily

Rose Window is a pattern of Jon Yusoff. It can be a snowflake but I chose fall colors for Halloween display.

The beaver is the last applique of the forest animals on the Log Cabin Quilt. Should the trees be appliqued up through the center or make it look like it has branches??  Or just leave it as is???  There is a front tooth on off white but doesn't show.

Mountain Goat, Loon and Peacock

Finished two more appliqued blocks to the Log Cabin Quilt.

Antique Sampler is a pattern of Ellen Maurer-Stroh. It was a block of Mo back in 2012. I knew I could work it on 14 ct but was not sure of 28 ct. Last year I purchased all the supplies but it still sat on the shelf reminding me to get started. A year later I am finally working on the sampler and very pleased with the results. It is not as bad as I thought but must use a magnify glass with good lighting. There are 4-5 different shades with each element and some blend in that one has to be on the ball!  As recommended I am using DMC from France using 3 strands on 28 ct linen.
