Susan from Tenn asked for cards to be given to Veterans in a Tenn Nursing Home for Valentines Day. So I made five cards, put some embroidery stitches on and tatted small hearts. It is a small way to give back and put a smile on their face.

Post Cards for Military

I belong to the Vintage Quilting Society and one of our community service projects are postcards for military personnel. The postcards are hand embroidered by the ladies and mailed to any person in the military. I have been busy this past week making up crazy quilt cards to be embroidered. We are all tatters so tatting will also be sewen on. On the tail of the dog there is some tatting. Once the card is all embroidered, I finished them off with drapery backing for the center and apply stitch witchery to both sides. The back is prepared with bubble jet using a Kona Cotton and printed off the computer. The embroidered front and the printed post card are ironed onto the drapery backing. The card is trimmed and the edges are zig zaged to complete the finished postcard. Many thanks to Sulky Threads for donating the multi color threads to bind off and to our local Elks Lodge for paying the postage and materials.

CQ Card for Mother

Mother is celebrating
her 87th Birthday and she is a very active lady. She loves homemade cards. This one is done by machine. I have a sewing machine with only 12 stitches and would love to have more stitches but it works. I went to OK a week ago and helped her celebrate. We went on a mini trip (100 Miles) and visited Woods & Waters Winery and Vineyard in Anadorka. It is the largest Winery in OK. It was a fun and enjoyable trip.

Post Cards Valentines

My Valentine post card for a special friend. In the upper left hand the heart is made from the new yo yo templates by Clover. Easy and quick, they really look nice too! Next to it are golden satin stitch hearts in a row. In the lower right hand corner are tatted dimpled hearts.

Valentine Post Card

The Cock-a-doddle Heart Post Card was the beginning of my postcards in 2006. I have learned a lot since then and enjoy making them for special people. Our Quilting group sends post cards to the men and women in the service. On this card one I was learning how to do thread painting.
