Valentine Post Card

The Cock-a-doddle Heart Post Card was the beginning of my postcards in 2006. I have learned a lot since then and enjoy making them for special people. Our Quilting group sends post cards to the men and women in the service. On this card one I was learning how to do thread painting.

Cool idea ~ I had to blow it up to see it well ~ love the whole Idea. Are the pieces sewn down or is it like free embroidery...

It is all free embroidery on the sewing machine with the feed dogs down. Meaning there is nothing to grab the material while you are sewing. I drew an outline and then filled in with threads. When I was sewing the edging I used invisable thread in the bobbin and it shows that it is not full color. To make it fill in one needs to use the same thread in the bobbin as on the top. However, when sewing the rooster and hearts you use the invisable in the bobbin and just keep going over the area till covered. It is a lot of fun and rewarding!!
