Tatting

Clover Leaf Doily designed by Linda S. Davies is an easy pattern to follow. You can find the pattern on her web page; http://www.howiedee.com There was a very good discussion on blocking tatting at Here to Be Yahoo tatting group. I blocked each round with water and pinned it out. On the last round I used Mary Ellen's Best Press, a clear starch alternative. I like the product. It didn't make it stiff but nice to handle.

Here is another easy pattern by Nancy at Be-stitched; http:/www.be-stitched.com
It is an easy pattern using only one shuttle with beads. Some of the beads are added to the shuttle and slide on when tatting. The other beads are added by a long picot. When tatting the next round add the bead with a hook. I also added a jump ring and threaded the tied threads back through the big bead.

Nice tatted pieces! I think it's great that you shared a photo of a piece of tatting being blocked. Many people don't know what blocking means and get it confused with "block tatting".

I never new how to block till a few months ago when Gina wrote about a piece she was blocking. Then I asked the Here to Be tatting Yahoo group and received a lot of good information. Many thanks to all of them.

I have blocked many pieces, but I never blocked as I was tatting it. Hmm, my projects might take me a tad longer now.
