Doily and Quilt Block

The Doily is completed!!  I have added the Three Leaf Clover pattern by Sharon Albers to the final round of the Blue Doily by Eileen Stafford. I wanted the doily to be larger and the Three Leaf Clover pattern filled it out.

The local quilt shop has 2 blocks per month. The beginning blocks were all pieced using 1/2 square triangles. This time it is machine applique. I used a satin stitch on the light blue and blind hem stitch for the melons. Found this old button for the center. The melons are padded with bamboo batting.

I love the 'finish' that the clover edging gives to this doily. Good move!

I agree that the 'clover' final round is a great finish for the doily! I'm impressed how you found the perfect stitch count!

Thanks to ALL for you nice comments. If one tats tightly they would need to add more DS to the chain. When tatting the chain it cupped slightly so I knew I could pin it out to lay flat. Very happy the way it turned out.

I tried tatting once with no luck. My husbands great aunt did beautiful tatting and I have some of her pieces.
