Split Ring Cross

These Split Ring Crosses are from the same pattern tatted with size 40 threads. After tatting the first one I had the "What If" factor of adding picots. I like the way they both turned out.
The pattern is from Wendy Durell at  www.wendytats.blogspot.com

Spanish Cross Redwork

In 2005, at our local quilt show, we had J Michelle Watts for a workshop in machine redwork.  The pattern we used was the    Spanish Cross,   a collection of contemporary cross designs for redwork embroidery. On the sewing machine the stitch that was used is the triple stitch or jean stitch with open toe foot and Mettler silk finish cotton #770 or Aurifil 28 wt. #2260. I did try the machine stitch and it did look pretty good but I still prefer the hand embroidery look.  I hand stitched one cross and it went into the UFO pile. This is the year to complete many UFOs!!! So last month this floated to the top of the pile and it is completed. I machine quilted the 13" x 42" using straight lines with the sun ray affect in each corner of the crosses arms.
If you would like the pattern visit One Horse Studio in Roswell, NM    www.jmichellewatts.com
There are lots of SouthWest patterns including another set of crosses.

CQ Quilt Panel

Working on the sides of a crazy quilt. The center was completed a few years ago and my goal is to have a finished Crazy Quilt by the end of the year!
Crazy Quilts Are Quilts Too Quilt Show --  May 1, 2013!
Thearica at Pigtails and Quilts will be hosting this show. I am working on my project and have 25 days to finish it.

I think the tatted bunny needs some greenery!!

One strip is completed and this will be the other side.

Cupcake

Nancy Tracy, www.be-stitched.com, has a beautiful cupcake to tat and it looks delicious to eat. It does tat up quickly. I like this pattern as it is totally different than any pattern I have seen and beginner friendly. I have a new student on Thursday and I am sure she will want to tat up a cupcake!! It is so rewarding to see your students complete a project.  The blue cup is 658, Ocean Turquoise; Frosting is 154, Wild Flower Garden; The cherry on top is 671, Christmas Red all done with Lizbeth size 40. I will have to tat one up in size 80 for a smaller version.

The bottom two are tatted Medallions from Nancy Tracy's February newsletter. I added the bead while tatting the center and did not add the outer edge.  Nancy tatted the medallions to her dress for her son's wedding. I am sure it was beautiful.

Here is my new project I was working on while on New York. Very easy and one can tat this anywhere without a pattern. Just need to pay attention to where you are connecting!!  It will take me a year to complete but will be beautiful when the project is finished!! It is all rings, no chains but lots of ends to tie in...ughhh

St Paddies Day

Happy St Patrick's Day to all!  Thanks for stopping by. My 90 year old Mother passed away and I am in Cold, Snowy Morrisville, New York. It is in the upper 80's at home in NM.
I have started a new project and will most likely take me more than a year to finish. When I arrive home next weekend I will post a picture. I also have finished half of a crazy quilt project for the upcoming Crazy Quilt Show on the Internet in May.
Enjoying my grandchildren and family.
